NO Kettle Island Bridge

Our campaign has just discovered that Canada's 2019 Budget included plans to review past studies for a new bridge between Ottawa & Gatineau.

"Ottawa city Coun. Mathieu Fleury said he would like to see the government engage in broader consultation about the replacement of the bridge.

He said he also wants to know where the traffic will go when the Alexandra is closed.

"When you see a closure like that you assume that an alternative corridor would be identified," he said.

He said both the City of Ottawa and City of Gatineau have identified the once proposed Kettle Island Bridge near the Rockcliffe Airport as an important link and he would like to see the federal government commit to it."

I remain strongly opposed to the Kettle Island option! It will decrease the livability of our city & ward.

This is the old way of thinking.  Let's put our money into other transit options such as light rail connections.
I worked hard in the past with people like former MPP Madeleine Meilleur and as Councillor for #RideauRockcliffe I will do so again!

Read the letter I have already sent to Ottawa-Vanier MP Mona Fortier

I stand opposed to the kettle island bridge. It is a totally inappropriate location for increased hazardous traffic that will negatively impact elementary schools, sensitive diagnostic equipment at the Montfort Hospital, the Rockcliffe flying club air field, the Aviation museum, and nearby densely built housing. The geology of the area contains vast amounts of leda clay which makes the land area unstable.
